Spiritual Love Poems are about the lover and the beloved, about the romance of the thorny and blissful love between aspirant and the goal. As the earthly human moves towards the path in his quest for his own soul or his inner knowing, God or heart, he becomes the lover of the beloved. It is a passionate and tempestuous affair of the heart. In essence the lover is loving himself but he does not find that out until the final conclusion of the matter when he sees and then becomes the beloved, God, enlightenment.
The Paintings by Pete Caswell help to fill the void in the mind left by the poems. The poems are structured like those of Lao & the riddles of Rumi, to help find what is inbetween the thoughts.
The gap in between the poems and riddles is the answer to the poems the only true answer. This void which is left takes a lifetime to find and truly cross. The paintings compose a song in the middle ground, a rope dangled inbetween the question and the answer so you can reach out and swing across from. Within the paintings is a rhythm and flow which work with the poems to help find the goal of the poems. Take a look at Pete’s paintings site to see some of the beautiful oil paintings.
It is this love for the beloved which is held as the ultimate meaning of life, life’s purpose. It is living through dying in the arms of the beloved, the ultimate quest, when all else has paled to insignificance. It culminates in the lover seeing God in his inner vision. Then in the final phase he ultimately becomes God as he realizes he is God and crosses the chasm between life and God to merge into infinity.
